A Crowning
Moment!

MARCH 17, 2009 -- You could call it a "crowning moment" for the renovation of the Truman Sports Complex. During the week of March 9, crews placed a new crown upon the scoreboard of Kauffman Stadium. Work at the "K" is continuing at a feverish pace with all the renovations to the home of the Royals expected to be completed in time for the team's 2009 home opener April 10 against the New York Yankees.

'K' On Schedule
For Opening Day!

Construction at Kauffman Stadium is winding down. Most of the renovations at the ball park are slated to be completed in time for the Kansas City Royals' 2009 home opener against the New York Yankees. When the boys of summer take the field for that April 10 game, all the construction this winter will have them playing in a 35-year-old facility made new again through the renovation. The $250 million project is running ahead of schedule, while still remaining on budget.

Two years ago, the Kauffman Stadium clubhouses were given a makeover. Last year, the new high-definition CrownVision scoreboard was unveiled and new bullpens were place for the 2008 season.

This winter the final pieces of the renovation puzzle were being put in place. The project will be nearly completed before fans file into the stadium April 10.

Royals Renovations

The only possible exceptions may be the new Royals Hall of Fame and a few suites behind home plate, needing a few finishing touches.

Located just beyond left field, the new Hall of Fame's building will be finished in time for the 2009 season. However, some of the Hall's interactive displays may not be immediately fully functional.

NEW FAN AMENITIES

To get the "K" ready for opening day 2009, the renovation work at the stadium resumed at full steam the instant the 2008 season concluded.

Included among the new amenities Royals fans will be able to enjoy are:

> Three new rows of left-field seats in front of the stadium's famous waterfall.

> The Fountain Pavilion, behind the waterfall, featuring the lowest-priced seats in the stadium--at $7.00--an area that was once grass.

> The new and bigger "Little K" for children, beyond the outfield seating, housing an arcade, video batting tunnels, a carousel, a stage and retail outlets.

> New restrooms and wider concourses for concessions.

> Luxury suites, along with a new Diamond Club, being built behind home plate and a revamped Stadium Club.
