Henry Rizzo Named Vice Chairman
JANUARY 7, 2009 -- On the same day he and fellow Legislator Bob Spence received their 10-year pins for a decade of service to the County, Scott Burnett was selected to chair the Jackson County Legislature in 2009.
County Legislator Scott Burnett assumes his duties as Chairman of the Legislature during the first Legislative meeting of 2009.
The Legislature elected the 1st District Legislator during its first meeting of the new year. Burnett graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and has been active in politics and government much of his professional life. From 1977 through 1980, he worked as a Special Assistant in the Carter White House.
Burnett worked for PPM, Inc., an environmental clean-up company, from 1981 through 1993, serving first as Marketing Director, then as Vice President of Operations. He is currently a partner in SGB Communications, Inc., a firm that assists clients with communicating their views to government officials, other key leaders, the media and the general public.
Henry Rizzo, 2nd District At-Large Legislator, was appointed the Vice Chairman for 2009. He was first elected to the County Legislature in 2006 and previously served as Vice Chairman in 2007.
