Statistical Profile Serves As Tool
To Encourage Development
SEPTEMBER 16, 2008 -- The Eastern Jackson County Development Alliance and Jackson County have compiled an in-depth statistical report, Eastern Jackson County by the Numbers, to inform current and potential businesses and citizens about the economic development profile of the region. Six cities were included in the profile: Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Grandview, Independence, Lee's Summit, Oak Grove and Sugar Creek. The report compares Eastern Jackson County to all of Jackson County and the Kansas City metropolitan area in order to give the data a greater regional context. The report represents an ongoing effort to further regionalize economic development efforts within the County.
"Rather than having city compete against city, successful economic development depends on a regional approach," Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders wrote in the introduction to Eastern Jackson County by the Numbers. "The Eastern Jackson County Development Alliance's objective is to form a regional consensus to spark development, while still allowing individual cities to maintain their unique identities."
Eastern Jackson County by the Numbers provides in-depth research statistics about household characteristics, population, labor force, major employers and education.
