The annual Fall Muster at Fort Osage takes on additional significance as our nation prepares to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Often called the Second War of Independence, the young United States found itself again at war with Great Britain. As the furthest military outpost on the frontier, it was questionable if Fort Osage would be able to defend itself if attacked. To bolster its defenses, civilians were formed into a militia. Skilled military and civilian interpreters will bring these tense times to life. Musket and cannon drills will highlight the military activities as the civilian residents prepare for possible hostilities.
