Gain a better understanding of the very earliest European settlers who made the confluence of the Missouri and Kansa Rivers their trading base. In the late 1700s French and Spanish traders actively engaged in commerce with local Native Americans while their home countries vied for dominance on the North American Frontier. The reconstructed 1808 Fort Osage provides a stunning backdrop as skilled interpreters bring the rich colonial customs of these two countries to life. Ongoing demonstrations and knowledgeable staff will introduce our visitors to this fascinating segment of our past!
