Bald Eagles have once again taken residence along the Missouri River at Jackson County's Fort Osage National Landmark. The panoramic views from the Fort Osage Education Center provide the perfect viewing environment to observe the eagles. Both adult and juvenile eagles have been spotted--among other birds, including Northern Goshawk, Johnson Gulls, American White Pelicans and Red-tail Hawks.
While birdwatchers are still encouraged to bring their own, the Fort Osage Education Center has a spotting scope and several pairs of binoculars for the public's use. A special information display has been prepared to help beginners identify the various species they see. The birds can be viewed from the outside observation deck or from the heated comfort inside the Education Center.
