Jackson County COMBAT to
Host Violence Prevention Picnic
August 22, 2013 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – In order to promote their on-going anti-violence campaign, the Jackson County Community Backed Anti-Drug Tax (COMBAT) will hold a violence prevention picnic on Saturday, August 24, 2013.
The picnic will take place at Central Park (3501 East 31st Street, Kansas City, Missouri) from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
The picnic is free of charge to the public. Food and drink will be provided (while supplies last) along with various family friendly activities and entertainment. The first 200 attendees will receive a free Jackson County COMBAT t-shirt. Several violence prevention agencies, including those that are supported by COMBAT funds will also be present.
“Reducing violent crime takes more than the efforts of law enforcement. We need help from the entire community,” said Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders. “Events like this one give us a chance to engage with our citizens and encourage them to speak up when they see illegal activity taking place in their neighborhood.”
