Ribbon Cutting for New Emergency
Operations Center Scheduled for Friday

March 20, 2013 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders will be joined by United States Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, Independence Mayor Don Reimal, and other officials in a ribbon cutting ceremony that will officially open the new Eastern Jackson County/Independence Emergency Operations Center.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Emergency Operations Center in Independence, Missouri (950 North Spring Street). 

The new facility is a joint project between Jackson County and the City of Independence and will be a resource for the county and all of its municipalities to use while managing and responding to weather related events, natural and man-made disasters as well as acts of terrorism. This project is one part of Jackson County’s region-wide effort to improve and enhance safety and security during emergency situations. 

After the short ceremony, staff from Jackson County and Independence will be available to give tours of the new facility and answer any questions.
