Former City Councilwoman Cathy Jolly Joins Staff as Senior Advisor

January 28, 2013 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has announced that former Kansas City, Missouri City Councilwoman Cathy Jolly will join his administration as a Senior Advisor.

Sanders made the announcement during this afternoon’s regular weekly meeting of the Jackson County Legislature.

“Cathy’s talent, experience and knowledge are a great addition to Jackson County government,” said Sanders. “Throughout her career, she has been a tireless advocate for the citizens of Kansas City and Jackson County and I have no doubt that she will continue to do so in this new role.”

As Senior Advisor, Jolly will focus on health and public safety issues. She is a former Assistant Jackson County Prosecutor and Missouri State Representative, serving in Jefferson City from 2001-2006. Jolly also previously served on the Jackson County Drug Commission. She is currently a board member of the Center School District.

“I am excited to be joining the County Executive and his staff in serving the citizens of Jackson County,” said Jolly. “I look forward to helping our community become a healthier and safer place to live.”

County Executive Sanders also announced on Tuesday that Chief Administrative Officer Fred Siems has made the decision to take a reduced role in the Executive Office. Siems was appointed in 2007.

“Since joining this administration, Fred’s skills have been invaluable in our day to day operations,” said Sanders. “His many years of experience have been vital in turning around our county government and in making sure taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely. Although his role will begin to change over time, he will continue to be an integral part of our organization.”
