Jackson County Executive Presents
Check to Operation Breakthrough

October 1, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders presented Operation Breakthrough with a check for $17,000 Monday afternoon at the regular weekly meeting of the Jackson County Legislature.

Operation Breakthrough is a local non-profit organization that was founded in 1971. They service families primarily living at or below the federal poverty level. On a daily basis, Operation Breakthrough cares for over 500 children by providing food, clothing, and educational opportunities.

“This is a testament to the generosity of the citizens of Jackson County. It is important that we continue to support those organizations who work to help the less fortunate in our community,” said Sanders. “Sister Berta Sailor and her staff at Operation Breakthrough should be commended for the positive impact they have had on the children of our community for the past four decades.”

The money was raised through the annual Jackson County Executive Golf Tournament which took place on September 14 at Fred Arbanas Golf Course. A total of $33,500 has been raised for Operation Breakthrough the last two years of the tournament.
