Jackson County to Host July 4th
Appreciation Event for County Residents

June 29, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – As a thank you to county residents who made it possible for Kauffman Stadium to host the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Jackson County is holding an “Appreciation Celebration” on July 4 at Longview Lake Beach (11101 Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64134).

The Independence Day event is free and open to the public. Gates to the Longview Lake beach will open at 6:00 P.M.

County voters approved renovations to the Truman Sports Complex in April 2006, which helped the Kansas City Metropolitan area land this year’s Mid-Summer Classic.

In addition to thanking county residents, county officials will also honor local veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. There will be a skydiving demonstration by the Skydive Kansas City Exhibition Team; live music provided by the David Basse Orchestra, as well as food vendors representing restaurants from around the area.

The event will culminate with the largest fireworks finale in Jackson County.

More information on the event can be found at www.jacksongov.org. You can also contact Angie Jeffries, Jackson County Director of Communications, at 816-503-4830.
