County Executive Announces
Appointments to Ethics Commission

June 4, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has announced the following appointees to the county’s Ethics, Human Relations and Citizen Complaints Commission.

  • Howard Lotven (District 1)
  • Rafaela Garcia (District 1)
  • Rosemary Lowe (District 2)
  • Keith Curnutt (District 3)
  • Randall Vest (District 5)
  • Jabbar Wesley (District 4)
  • Roger Davis (District 6)

The seven-member commission was established with passage of a revised Jackson County Charter in August 2010. The commission is made up of Jackson County residents, with each county legislative district getting at least one representative.

A three-person selection committee provided recommendations for appointments to the commission. The County Executive appoints members after reviewing the recommendations.

The Ethics, Human Relations and Citizens Complaints Commission receives complaints and conducts investigations of possible violations of the Jackson County Ethics Code as well as alleged violations of county and State of Missouri guidelines regarding conflicts of interest, financial interest disclosures and lobby registration and other disclosure provisions.

“This commission is a representation of Jackson County’s commitment to open and transparent government,” said Sanders. “It is important that we provide an outlet for our citizens so that there is an appropriate level of accountability for all involved with county government.”
