2012 Property Declarations due May 1
April 23, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County is reminding all individual and business personal property owners that all personal property owned or held on January 1 must be reported to the county assessment department each year. The annual filing deadline for this information is May 1.
In January of each year, the county assessment department mails every property owner a declaration form upon which all taxable personal property must be reported. Property owners who have not yet declared their property received an additional reminder in March.
Those not returning a completed list of personal property to the Jackson County Assessment Department by the deadline may be subject to a late filing fee. Penalties for non-filers range from $10 to $100 depending upon the value of the property.
Declaration forms can be mailed in or completed on-line at the Jackson County website, www.jacksongov.org.
If a property owner has moved or has a question about the declaration form, they should contact the Jackson County Assessment Department.
