Jackson County and Kansas City Collaborate on
Web-Based Tool for Economic and Community Development
March 14, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders, Kansas City Mayor Pro-Tem Cindy Circo and City Councilman Scott Wagner will hold a joint press conference on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. to discuss a new Jackson County web-based tool that is helping facilitate economic and community development.
The press conference will be held at the offices of the Local Investment Commission (3100 Broadway, Suite 1100, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111).
Working in a collaborative manner to improve current housing and neighborhood conditions, Jackson County worked with city officials as well as the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and UMKC to create a single location where users can access in-depth information that is useful to public policy makers and neighborhood groups, as well as everyday citizens.
Among the types of information that users can access includes:
- Property availability and assessment information
- Kansas City’s vacant and rental property registry
- Blight information for specific properties
- 311 Action Center Information
- Capital Projects Information
- Traffic Counts
- Crime Statistics
The website (http://maps.jacksongov.org/edev/), was created by the Jackson County Department of Economic Development and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and is maintained at no additional expense to taxpayers.
County Executive Sanders, Mayor Pro-Tem Circo and Councilman Wagner will be joined at the press conference by representatives from UMKC and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
