County Courthouses to Display
Flags in Honor of 9/11 Anniversary

September 8, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – To mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Jackson County will adorn the front of the county courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Missouri with a multitude of American flags beginning Friday, September 9, 2011. Additional flags will be erected at the county courthouse annex in Independence, Missouri.

“While September 11, 2001 was one of the darkest moments in our nation’s history, its aftermath brought out what is best about America,” said County Executive Mike Sanders. “It is important that we continue to honor the thousands that we lost on that tragic day as well as those who risked their own lives to rescue fellow citizens.”

The flags will be displayed at both courthouses all weekend beginning at 8:00 A.M Friday.
