County Courthouses to Display Flags
in Honor of Independence Day

June 30, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – As a tribute to Independence Day, Jackson County will adorn the front of the county courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Missouri with a multitude of American flags beginning Friday, July 1, 2011. Additional flags will be erected at the county courthouse annex in Independence, Missouri.

“Independence Day is a celebration of our country’s commitment to the cause of freedom,” said County Executive Mike Sanders. “As we spend time this weekend with family and friends, let us remember our Founding Fathers who built the framework of the nation we live in today.”

The flags will be displayed at both courthouses beginning at 8:00 a.m. Friday and will be up through the holiday weekend.
