County Courthouses to Display
Flags in Honor of Flag Day

June 13, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – As a tribute to Flag Day, Jackson County will adorn the front of the county courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Missouri with a multitude of American flags on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Additional flags will be erected at the county courthouse Annex in Independence, Missouri.  

“The American flag is a constant reminder of the rich history of our country,” said County Executive Mike Sanders. “Since its adoption in 1777, the Stars and Stripes have symbolized the ideals of our nation including freedom, prosperity and opportunity.” 

The flags will be displayed at both courthouses all day Tuesday beginning at 8:00 A.M.
