Jackson County Raising Flags
in Honor of Veterans

May 27, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – In honor of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, Jackson County has adorned the front of the Courthouse in downtown Kansas City with a multitude of America flags. The flags will remain raised throughout the Memorial Day weekend. Additional flags have been erected at the Courthouse Annex in Independence.

“While Memorial Day has come to be celebrated as the official start of summer, it is important that we remember this holiday is about remembering and saluting those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our nation,” said County Executive Mike Sanders.
