Advisory Committee Announces Finalists
for Prosecuting Attorney Appointment

April 28, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – James Nunnelly, Chairman of the advisory nominating committee named by Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders to help appoint a new County Prosecutor, today announced the three finalists for the position vacated by James F. Kanatzar.

List of Finalists:

● Kevin D. Harrell

● Jean Peters-Baker

● Bryan Round

“We believe this process has yielded three strong candidates, all of which have excellent qualifications for this position,” said Nunnelly, on behalf of the committee. “We are confident that Jackson County will have an outstanding new Prosecutor.”

Sanders will conduct private interviews with all three candidates. Following the interviews and further consideration, Sanders will make the appointment, subject to disapproval by the County Legislature. 

The appointee will fulfill the term of Kanatzar who was sworn in earlier today as a Judge on the 16th Judicial Circuit bench. The term for the appointed Prosecutor ends on December 31, 2012.
