Advisory Committee for Prosecuting Attorney
Appointment to Hold First Meeting

April 11, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – James Nunnelly, Chairman of the advisory nominating committee named by Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders to help appoint a new County Prosecutor, has announced that the committee will hold their first meeting tonight from 5:30-6:30 PM at the offices of the Mid-America Regional Council (600 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri). 

All meetings of the advisory committee are open to the public. Notices will be posted in advance of each meeting on the Jackson County website at www.jacksongov.org. Notice for tonight’s meeting was posted on Friday, April 8.

The five-person committee will conduct public hearings, including candidate interviews, and will accept input from citizens. Following the interviews, the committee will forward three applicants to the County Executive who will then make the appointment, subject to disapproval by the County Legislature.  

The appointee will fulfill the term of current Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar who was recently named to the 16th Judicial Circuit bench by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.

● Dana Altieri – Judge, Lee’s Summit, Missouri

● Uzziel Hernandez Pecina – UMKC Assistant Teaching Professor

● Robert Martin – Welch, Martin, and Albano, LLC

● Ross Nigro, Jr. (Alternate) – Fox, Partee & Nigro

   *Mr. Nigro will serve on the committee should any member be unable to fulfill their duties.
