Advisory Committee for Prosecuting Attorney
Appointment to Hold Public Hearing

April 18, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – James Nunnelly, Chairman of the advisory nominating committee named by Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders to help appoint a new County Prosecutor, has announced that the committee will meet on Tuesday, April 19 from 5:30-7:00 PM at the offices of the Mid-America Regional Council (600 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri). 

A portion of this meeting will be reserved for members of the public to make comments on what they would like to see from the next Prosecutor. 

All meetings of the advisory committee are open to the public. Some parts of meetings may be closed for deliberations or to discuss privileged information. Notices will be posted in advance of each meeting on the Jackson County website at www.jacksongov.org

The five-person committee will conduct candidate interviews beginning next week. Following the interviews, the committee will forward three applicants to the County Executive who will then make the appointment, subject to disapproval by the County Legislature.  

The appointee will fulfill the term of current Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar who was recently named to the 16th Judicial Circuit bench by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.
