Jackson County Legislature Approves
Funding for Domestic Violence Shelters

February 7, 2011 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – The Jackson County Legislature today approved the first of two annual allocations to three local domestic violence shelters.

The Rose Brooks Center, Hope House, and Newhouse will each receive an initial allocation of $33,333 from the fund that the Jackson County Board of Domestic Violence Shelters administers. The Jackson County Domestic Violence Fund is generated through a $10 fee on all marriage licenses issued in the county and a $2 fee on all civil case filings in the County Circuit Court.

Today’s allocation is based on a portion of the funds projected to be available during 2011. A second funding allocation will be made later in the year.
