Jackson County Executive is Honorary Chair
for 19th Annual AIDS Walk
April 27, 2007 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders is serving as Honorary Chair of the 2007 AIDS Walk Kansas City. “I am proud and honored to help raise funds for local HIV/AIDS service organizations. This is a critically important issue facing our community,” Sanders said. “I would like to personally encourage residents throughout the region to join us in this cause and walk with us on Saturday,” he added.
The 2007 AIDS Walk Kansas City will take place at Theis Park on Saturday, April 28. Registration begins at 8:00 am, Walk Cerimonies at 9:00 am and the Walk itself begins at 10:00 am. For more information call 816.931.0959 or seach the web at www.AIDSWalkKansasCity.org.
Jackson County has helped fund the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City for many years through support to member organizations like the Kansas City Free Health Clinic, SAVE Inc. and the Good Samaritan Project. Since 1998 Jackson County has provided $65,000.00 each year to fund these and other local AIDS service organizations.
The mission of the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City is to raise awareness and funding for local service organizations which provide shelter, medical care and emergency services to the women, men and children living with HIV/AIDS in our community.
