County Executive to hold Community Forum

June 29, 2007 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – On Saturday June 30 Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders will hold a Community Forum on the progress of his “New Government” initiatives since taking office in January.

Mr. Sander’s will discuss topics including the Jackson County Detention Center, the Community Backed Anti-Drug Tax (COMBAT) and Jackson County property taxes.  Mr. Sander’s has invited Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser to be the guest speaker at this Community Forum.  Police Chief Jim Corwin and other elected officials are also expected to be in attendance.

There will be special recognition given to Reverend John Modest Miles, Senior Pastor of the Morningstar Baptist Church, and A. Marie Young, Executive Director of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City.  Mr. Sanders will present each of them with a proclamation for their outstanding community service to the residents of Jackson County.

This Community Forum will be held at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center at 3700 Blue Parkway in Kansas City, Missouri starting at 9:00 am and is open to the public.  Jackson County residents are encouraged to attend.
