County Executive to roll out
Jackson County Rx Program

July 2, 2007 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive, Mike Sanders will announce the new Prescription Drug Discount Card available to all Jackson County residents today. Mr. Sanders will have a media availability just outside the Legislative Chambers on the 2nd Floor of the Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City.

The Jackson County Rx Program is arranged through the National Association of Counties (NACo) to help consumers save money on their prescription medications any time a specific prescription is not covered by insurance. The free cards are being distributed throughout Jackson County and may be used at any one of over 100 participating retail pharmacy throughout the county.

The Jackson County Rx Card may be used by all Jackson County residents. The Card is not insurance; there is no enrollment cost or membership fee and according to NACo savings average about 20 percent depending upon the specific drug and quantity purchased.

This media availability will be at 1:00 pm today just outside the Legislative Chambers on the 2nd Floor of the Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City.
