New Director of Corrections Selected

September 14, 2007 - Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has announced the official hiring of a new Director of Corrections for Jackson County, Missouri filing an Executive Order with the Clerk of the Legislature today.

Ken Conlee will assume the position of Director of Corrections on November 1, 2007 upon his retirement as Police Chief for the City of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Conlee has over thirty years of law enforcement experience serving the last eleven years as Police Chief for Lee’s Summit.

“Ken will bring extensive law enforcement background and experience to our Department of Corrections, including a broad understanding of major issues facing our region,” County Executive Mike Sanders shared. “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to recruit someone of this caliber to our organization and look forward to adding him to our leadership team.”

Prior to serving in Lee’s Summit, Conlee was the Chief of Police for Wentzville, Missouri, a suburb outside of St. Louis, and also served in various policing positions for the City of Cedar Falls, Iowa from 1977 – 1994.

“I am excited about this opportunity to continue to serve the public in the law enforcement arena although in a new role as Director of Corrections for Jackson County. I look forward to building upon the partnerships I have been a part of throughout the region in addressing issues facing law enforcement agencies in Jackson County,” Conlee commented.
