Woods Chapel Road
Groundbreaking Set for Thursday

March 25, 2008 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County, in cooperation with the City of Lee’s Summit, is widening Woods Chapel Road from I-470 to Liggett Road.  A groundbreaking ceremony to commence work on the project will be held Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at the Fleming Meeting Hall, 21906 Woods Chapel Road in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Jackson County Executive Michael D. Sanders and Lee’s Summit Mayor Karen R. Messerli will be among those participating in the ceremony.

In addition to widening Woods Chapel Road from two lanes to four and five lanes (including a center turning lane), the 2.1-mile project will upgrading street lights and water mains, as well as installing storm sewers and generally improving the grade of the road. A 10-foot wide bicycling path is also being created on the south side of Woods Chapel Road.  A five-foot wide sidewalk will be placed on the north side of the road.
