Kansas City collaborating with
Jackson County Regional Plan

March 26, 2008 (KANSAS CITY, MO) – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders will join other Jackson County and Kansas City elected leaders this morning at a press conference to discuss the possibility of collaborating on a Regional Detention Center that would serve Jackson County and the 18 municipalities within it.

Mr. Sanders has been a proponent of a Regional Detention Center for several years.  Before being elected as County Executive in 2006 Sanders served as Jackson County Prosecutor for 5 years and saw first hand the need for such a centralized regional facility.

Sanders is happy that Kansas City is the first municipality to step forward in this collaboration and also looks forward to welcoming other municipalities within Jackson County into the partnership.
