Welcome Thank you for visiting the Jackson County Auditor’s web site. This site reflects the County Auditor’s effort to communicate with the citizens of Jackson County and employees of Jackson County Government regarding our function and activities on behalf of the County Legislature. This will provide online users a way to communicate with us. The Office of the County Auditor functions as an objective evaluator of the effectiveness of all Jackson County activities, operations, services and programs, ensuring compliance with our County Code and Missouri state statutes. The County Charter establishes the position of the County Auditor as independent of the executive and judicial branches and directly responsible to the governing body, the County Legislature. The County Auditor is appointed by and reports to the County Legislature. This reporting relationship is critical to maintaining the County Auditor’s independence, objectivity and impartiality. The charter grants the auditor complete access to the books and records of all county departments. The auditor uses this access, independence, and authority in performing his charter mandate to carry on a continuous investigation of the work of all county departments. The Finance and Audit Legislative Committee oversees the activities of the County Auditor and reviews audits and other work products of the Office of the County Auditor.
The Legislature has also assigned us the duties of the Compliance Review Office. to ensure Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance are followed.
Again, I would like to thank you for visiting our website. Sincerely, Gary Panethiere County Auditor
