Gary Panethiere was re-appointed Jackson County Auditor in February 2007. Gary is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Missouri and a graduate from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Accounting. He is an Affiliated Member of the International County/City Management Association and former member of the GFOA (Government Finance Officers Association). Prior to his appointment, Gary most recently served as Clay County Administrator for 15 years. Gary was the Manager of Finance & Operations for Jackson County, Missouri from 1983  – 1991 and served early in his career as the Jackson County Auditor. He also audited Missouri businesses for tax compliance for the Missouri Department of Revenue.
