WELCOME to the Jackson County Public Works and Facilities Management Department! We are responsible for maintaining a safe and effective roadway network system for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens in the unincorporated areas of the county and for maintaining the county buildings.
The Public Works division oversees six lines of business: Administration, Development, Engineering, Environmental Health, Road & Bridge and Facilities Management. Major responsibilities include project engineering and construction administration, road and bridge maintenance, planning, building permits and code enforcement, animal control and nuisance abatement, and environmental services including food inspection and sanitary sewer operation.
The Public Works Department provides excellent opportunity for coordination between cities within Jackson County through intergovernmental agreements for snow removal and road and bridge repair. Through the County Urban Road System (CURS), we also coordinate with cities on projects to repair or replace road surfaces and bridges, like the Colbern Road Improvement Project and the Lydia Bridge Replacement Project.
PLEASE REMEMBER… Jackson County Public Works takes care of roads, bridges, sewers, signs, code enforcement, etc. for the UNINCORPORATED area of the County. If you live within a city limits and want to report a problem or maintenance request, please call the public works department for YOUR city, or look on the "
Public Works Agencies" page to view the public works department in your city.
