Blue Mills Road Bridge
Location – 1 mile West of Twyman Road on Blue Mills Road.

Jackson County is in the process of the design for the rehabilitation of the bridge on Blue Mills Road over a Little Blue River. The rehabilitation of the existing bridge will include updated guardrail and replacement of the deck.

R. D. Mize Road
Location – 1000 feet West of Necessary Road to 500 feet South Eureka Road in the City of Independence

The City of Independence and Jackson County through the CURS program are in the process of the design of R. D. Mize Road. The new roadway will be 36 feet wide to accommodate three lanes. The project will have curb and gutter, a 5-foot wide sidewalk and a 10-foot shared bike path and pedestrian walk that will tie into the Little Blue River trace bike trail. The new roadway will be centered on the old alignment until it comes to the intersection of R. D. Mize and Eureka Road then the curve will be realigned to accommodate a safe traveling speed of 35 mile per hour. The existing bridge over the Little Blue River will receive an updated guardrail system and some minor deck rehabilitation.

The City of Independence and Jackson County through the CURS program are in the process of the design of 39th Street. The new roadway will be 36 feet wide to accommodate three lanes the entire length. The project will have new curb and gutter, storm sewer update, sidewalks on both sides of the street and street lights. The new roadway will be centered on the old alignment. The intersection at Spring St. (Old 39th) on the South side and Main St. on the South side will be realigned.

Austerman (West) Road Bridge

Jackson County is in the process of the design for the replacement of the bridge on Austerman Road over a branch of Fire Prairie Creek. The new bridge will be a 30 foot long by 11 foot high reinforced concrete box with minimum roadway improvement.

Blue Ridge and Wornall Intersection Improvements
Location: Blue Ridge and Wornall Intersection

The City of Kansas City and Jackson County through the CURS program are in the design phase of the signalization of the intersection and other improvements.
The project will feature the replacement of the 4-way stop signs with traffic signals. Turn lanes will be added to Wornall south of the intersection and on Blue Ridge to the west of the intersection.
