The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for the computer and telecommunication operations within the County. The Department provides desktop hardware and software support as well as client server based hardware and software. An applications programming staff and a Micro-Support staff serves the specialized computing needs of County government, from the Corrections Facility to the Collections Department. IT designs, writes, and installs information systems to meet the diverse needs of each department. IT is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of the County's LAN/WAN infrastructure. The Department also operates a Help Desk, a central place where all computer-related calls are logged in and technicians are dispatched from. IT is looking for ways to improve the computing environment in order to make Jackson County government more efficient, and to ease the taxpayers' interactions with Jackson County.
