Biography

Mr. Spence was elected to the Jackson County Legislature in 1998 and reelected in 2002 and 2006. His priorities for Jackson County include the most appropriate and efficient allocation of limited resources and customer (taxpayer) service. Prior to his election to the legislature, Mr. Spence was a partner at the CPA firm of KPMG Peat Marwick where he specialized in governmental accounting, auditing and consulting. He has served in various capacities in a variety of community and civic organizations many of which have been concerned with the welfare of our children. He is currently a member of the Optimist Club and the Masonic Order in Lee's Summit. He is also a Shriner and participates in transporting sick and disabled children to the Shrine Hospital in St. Louis.
