Back to School Immunizations

Summer is winding down and the school year is fast approaching. That means that your child may need vaccinations. Missouri law requires that all students present documentation of up-to-date immunization status before attending school.

These vaccinations are important to protect your child and can save lives.

“Vaccination is one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children and teens from potentially harmful diseases. Immunizing individual children also helps to protect the health of our community, especially those people who cannot be immunized (children who are too young to be vaccinated, or those who can’t receive certain vaccines for medical reasons), and the small proportion of people who don’t respond to a particular vaccine,” said Health Director of the Jackson County Health Department, Bridgette Casey.

The Jackson County Health Department can help with child, adult, travel, and flu immunizations.

The department offers free or low-cost vaccinations given by vaccination experts. Their nurses have more than 125 years of combined experience. There is no copay and most major insurances are accepted. Call ahead to schedule an appointment at (816) 404-6416. For more information, please visit https://jacohd.org/.

The Jackson County Health Department, established in January, 1925, provides a wide range of public and environmental health services to Jackson County residents and, in some programs, the region.

Its mission, to provide public health services for disease prevention, health promotion and protection of the environment, is the driving force behind programming and community collaborations. Services include health education, data analysis, policy and programming, disease surveillance and response, immunizations, family planning, vital records and emergency preparedness.
